Paddle for a Purpose
Paddle for a Purpose
The Ladysmith Dragon Boat Society is thrilled to announce our first-ever Paddle for a Purpose fundraising event! On Friday, September 20th, we're embarking on a dragon boat journey from Ladysmith to Chemainus and back, all to support our society and local families impacted by breast cancer.
Every year LDBS donates a portion of the collected membership fees to local individual who has been directly impacted by breast cancer.
This year, we're that effort. 50% of all funds raised will directly support selected local residents impacted by breast cancer. We believe in grassroots support, making sure help gets directly to those who need it most in our communities.
The other 50% will go back into the LDBS, helping us cover costs like moorage and equipment, ensuring our society thrives for years to come.
Date: Friday, September 20th
Time: Depart 9:30 AM, return early afternoon
Route: Approximately 15km each way from Ladysmith to Chemainus and back.
Ladysmith Search and Rescue will be on the water providing support and ensuring everyone's safety. In case of high winds or unsafe conditions, the paddle will be postponed to an alternative date in October.
Support the strength of women in sports and in their fight against breast cancer. Help us paddle towards our $8,000 goal!
The Ladysmith Dragon Boat Society (LDBS) is a registered not-for-profit society. However, we are not a registered charity and therefore, we are unable to issue official tax receipts for any donations received. We appreciate your understanding and support of our grassroots initiative. As stated, 50% of all funds raised will go directly to local Ladysmith residents impacted by breast cancer, and the remaining 50% will support the Ladysmith Dragon Boat Society for operational costs, equipment, and moorage. Funds directed to individuals will be managed and distributed by the LDBS to ensure direct support to families in need within our community.
