Sync or Swim’s first-ever raffle was a huge success, raising funds to keep dragon boating accessible in our community and celebrating winners from Ladysmith and Nanaimo.

The Sea Dragons wrapped up their season with a thrilling silver medal at the Comox Dragon Boat Festival, battling fierce winds, whitecaps, and churning ocean waves. With grit, teamwork and the steady hand of our steersperson Carol Ann, it was a spicy finish they’ll never forget.

Sync or Swim wrapped up the 2025 season at the Vancouver Island Dragon Boat Festival in Victoria, August 23–24. With new race formats, close finishes, and plenty of firsts, it was the perfect way to finish the year.

On August 11, the 49th Dragons gathered for their annual Bute Island picnic. This year’s trip carried a deeper purpose as they honoured the memory of their dear teammate and friend, Val Savage.

Sync or Swim took on the first-ever Westwood Lake Dragon Boat Regatta in Nanaimo July 19–20 and left with a silver, a gold, and a whole lot of good vibes. With 200m sprints, our debut in the 500m, and a whole weekend of sun, sweat, and spirit, it was one of our most fun festivals to date.

It was a scorcher on the water as both Sync or Swim and Sea Dragons headed to Sproat Lake for the annual WCDBS Regatta. With 20 teams, 300-meter heats and more sunscreen than we care to admit, it was a day full of big wins and even bigger community pride.

Sync or Swim hit the Fairway Gorge Super Sprints with high hopes and fast strokes, taking 1st place in our first two heats, but things took a dramatic turn… literally.

Sync or Swim kicked off race season at the Race the River Regatta in Campbell River on May 4th.

The Ladysmith Dragon Boat Society joined in on the annual Ladysmith witches paddle at Transfer Beach on Sunday, October 13.

Sync or Swim took home silver to end to the 2024 dragon boat season at the Comox Dragon Boat Festival.

Partnering with Ladysmith Search and Rescue (RCMSAR Ladysmith 29), we had the opportunity to practice vital paddler-overboard drills using a rescue dummy.

Sync or Swim claimed gold in the Women’s B division at the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival in the closest race of the event, narrowly beating out three fierce competitors in a race so tight, no one knew the winner until the official times were posted.

This past weekend on Saturday, July 13, Sync or Swim attended the Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival organized by VI Paddling.

Ladysmith Dragon Boat Society proudly represented at the 2024 WCDBS regatta, sending two teams, The Sea Dragons and Sync or Swim, to compete at Sproat Lake Provincial Park on June 9, 2024.

At the onset of the New Year, the Port Hardy West Coast Warriors challenged Ladysmith’s Sync or Swim to a cold water plunge. The challenge was accepted!
