Sync Or Swim Brave the Waves in False Creek!

The Where, The When & The Who:

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, Sync Or Swim made our off-Island debut at False Creek, Vancouver, for the Dragon Boat BC Burnwater Spring Sprints in the central hub of Vancouver’s dragon boat scene.

We stepped straight into the high-energy atmosphere, joining 90 other racing teams - including 23 women’s crews, mixed squads, and an open division.

The Wow!

The day brought an unexpected adjustment to our steersperson lineup and, as luck would have it, we had someone already in our ranks, who steers for fellow LDBS team the Sea Dragons!
With the clock ticking she switched from paddler to steersperson mode, navigating us off the dock with total composure, giving clear, calm instructions that kept us focused, and holding our line against a lightning-fast field.

When a sudden wind gust and rough water caught the steering oar early in the heat, she stayed calm, prioritizing crew safety above all else and bringing us back to the dock securely; handling that kind of pressure in those circumstances takes serious nerve and control!

What mattered most in those moments was composure and safety, and she handled both with incredible courage, and we are all enormously proud of her for stepping up when the team needed her.

In Race 2, she jumped back in as a paddler, contributing to our first record of the day: 200m in 00:56.946 seconds - third place in a pretty formidable lineup!

The Win!

With the first two heats deciding the final lineups, we headed into the C Division final. The crew gave our all in true SOS style with a boat-length win and a second team best of 00:55.854 seconds!

Huge credit as always to our Coach, Steer(s!), and Race Managers, for all their hard work and commitment.

And a big thank you goes to Dragon Boat BC for running such a fantastic event so smoothly.

Our team is there for each other on and off the water, and we’re proud of everything this day represented and what we accomplished.
