Lighting Up the Night: Ladysmith Dragon Boat Society Joins the 2025 Light Up Parade.
On the crisp evening of November 27, 2025, the Ladysmith Dragon Boat Society proudly joined one of our community’s most cherished traditions—the Ladysmith Festival Of Lights.
With festive cheer, glowing lights, and our paddling spirit on full display, our members helped kick off the holiday season in true Ladysmith style.
This year, we traded the rhythm of the race drum for the energy of a bustling street celebration. Our boat shimmered with strings of twinkling lights, bright paddles, and the warmth of teammates who were excited to celebrate alongside friends and neighbours.
As hundreds lined the parade route, we were greeted by smiling faces, cheers, and waves from families, supporters, and both longtime and new friends—reminding us once again just how deeply connected our Society is to the heart of Ladysmith.
The parade was not only an opportunity to showcase our three teams, but also to highlight the values that guide us both on and off the water: community, wellness, camaraderie, and fun. While our dragon boat is usually found gliding through the harbour, tonight our spirit “paddled” proudly down First Avenue.
